Founder & Principal Planning Consultant

Hi, I’m Ian, a Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) with over 11 years’ experience working across both local authorities and private sector consultancies, including Barton Willmore (now Stantec) and Jacobs. Over the years I’ve dealt with everything from planning applications and appeals to enforcement cases. Having worked on both sides of the system — public and private — I know how local authorities think and how to navigate the process effectively. That balance means I can spot opportunities, cut through red tape, and negotiate solutions that give your project the best chance of success.

I studied City and Regional Planning at Oxford Brookes University, where I graduated with a First, before completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Design (with Merit). With a background that combines planning and design, I don’t just focus on policy — I also understand how places should look, feel, and function for people. Above all, I believe planning shouldn’t feel intimidating. My goal is to make the process clear, constructive, and collaborative, so together we can deliver outcomes that really work.
